Gordy - an analogy from another area of study. Quoting
from the "Elements of Style" by William Strunk -
It is an old observation that the best writers
sometimes disregard the rules of rhetoric. When they do so, however, the
reader will usually find in the sentence some compensating merit, attained at
the cost of the violation. Unless he is certain of doing as well, he will
probably do best to follow the rules. After he has learned, by their guidance,
to write plain English adequate for everyday uses, let him look, for the
secrets of style, to the study of the masters of literature.

It is
assumed a style has been adopted by a caster because they are comfortable
with it. I will amend:
How about: Style can be any movement of the caster
or rod that adheres to the basic principles of casting and results in
an efficient cast.

Dan...
I like that one a tad better....but it still leaves the
assumption that it's comfortable and doesn't speak to the best use of one's
anatomy......although, I must admit that the word efficient comes
close.
Al Kyte's, "Self optimization" does imply the best use of
one's body habitus.
