    Gary...

Good thoughts.  I'll pass this on.

    Gordy,

Off the top of my head...

    1. A thorough understanding of, and ability to perform, most casts... and a
    familiarity with all.

    2. A good overall understanding of the many different techniques used in fly
fishing, and an expert level of knowledge in their specialty.

    3. The ability to explain, or teach, to the student's level of understanding.

    4. Ability to "teach the teacher".

    5. Enthusiasm for fly fishing, teaching, and learning.

    6. Humility.

... at least, that is what I would expect from a "master"!
