ol Al....
Thanks !
Yes.....that extra "shooting guide" has been found by some to help. As I recall, you were one of the first to embrace this concept.
Joy Dunlop claims credit for being at least one rod maker who developed this.
Don Phillips describes the addition of the second stripper or "shooting" guide just a few inches distal to the first stripper guide as preventing "cyclical lateral wandering" of the line during the shoot. (THE TECHNOLOGY OF FLY RODS, Don Phillips, pp 73-75).
I have never used such a guide....but I did some casting with Joy using his rods. In doing so, I was impressed that they cast well.....but he'd added a number of guides, and made some other modifications, so I felt that the only way to detect the difference would be to take the same rod and cast it with....and then without that extra guide. Perhaps you have done that. (???)

Howdy GordyI am in the middle of down loading My "Gordy" file to a CD it is a slow job as I can not zip with this old computerYes I save the list with a Flag. I will try to find it tomorrow night.Oh I turn my guides to the right so the line that is being shot will clear the rod blank. Lets it just swing in the air.Of course the extra shooting guide helps too.ol AlAllen R. Crise FFF Master Fly Casting Instructor
