    Walter & Group.....

    Question from Jerry Puckett:-

    Gordy:

In "Saltwater Fly casting-Ten steps to Distance and Power" George Roberts Jr. talks about 'Body Block' Joan Wluff's term, where the elbow  is close to the side, providing a powerful stop position because of the bodies natural design limit, verses having the elbow and arm away from the body for a weaker stop.

My question is this--in your opinion, does the 'Lefty's Stab' provide this same powerful stopping position?

    Thanks, Jerry Puckett

    Jerry....

    Yes, indeed !

George Roberts Jr.'s book is worth studying as well as his video.

When used in the opposite direction for the forward cast, it can be done more positively than any other stop I know .

This is what is used for the THRUST CAST aka the LEFTY KREH WIND CAST.  Similar to Charles Ritz's  STORM CAST.

You don't stop until you literally run out of arm after a forceful thrust.

I use it when casting distance into a hard head wind in the salt..... high back cast, forward cast 180 degrees from this aimed directly at the target, max loop speed and a very tight loop.

It can be done so powerfully that I don't teach it except to advanced students who have good control .... because the caster can develop elbow damage.  Joan Wulff ageed with me on that point.
