    Walter.....

Well.... unloading of the rod has occurred at RSP which is the point at which the line can overtake the rod tip and the loop forms.

I don't look at that as a, "stop" since this one position in time which is fleeting ... never stationary.

My own take (and that of most others) is that the STOP is not really a "true brick-wall stop" but as rapid negative acceleration as the human caster is able to achieve. .... never perfect.

At the last conclave, Dean Floyd gave an excellent demo on what actually happens when a true total stop if the rod and hand motion IS achieved, as he made a cast and had the rod handle actually hit a stationary metal bar.

The cast was terrible, because of all sorts of unwanted vibration of the rod translating into multiple waves in the line and an erratic layout.

Gordy - this brings up the question of how we define "stop". Is it the stopping of the rod butt or the unloading of the rod?

    Thanks
