    Walter & Group.........

One last message before I leave town:

    From Mac Brown : -

    Gordy and the group,
I have enjoyed the loop discussions during the past week. It has occurred to me that the term acceleration is still being used incorrectly (perhaps Troy can give us some input). I have seen this at least 3 times during the past few weeks that  :

while the rod tip is still accelerating, but at a slower rate

The way I learned this years ago is there are ower rateonly 3 choices to talk about. This came up several times last year as well; I think Bruce and Troy responded a similar posts in attempts for correction. An object either accelerates, decelerates, or remains at rest. Not to be splitting hairs, but to say something accelerates at a slower rate makes no sense to me during a dynamic event. This can be proven easily with the casting analyzer. No where on the graph for a specific cast may it be seen that the rod hand accelerates at a slower rate. If it is a great cast it yields a constant acceleration followed by a very abrupt deceleration (the expert casters exhibit the most abrupt deceleration and the most constant acceleration). It would look like like (/) for constant acceleration and (l) for the abrupt deceleration. We have to be on the same page in the usage of these terms when we get the engineer type student opposed to the poets.

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend! Cheers, Mac

    Mac ...

Thanks for pointing this out.  It was my error .... a bad old habit of referring to, "rates of acceleration" when I should have simply used the terms, "ACCELERATION" , "DECELERATION" or "NEGATIVE ACCELERATION".  Some others did the same thing, but I was the ringleader of this dastardly crime.

I've earned a slap on the wrist !!!!!!!!

    Have a great Thanksgiving.
