Jerry....
To finish my last message:
Proof of this is to create a situation where there IS NO LOADING. This is accomplished by using a boom stick which doesn't bend.
I rigged one up with guides and a tip top and made casts with and without hauling. When I hauled, the line speed was significantly greater despite the lack of rod bend/load.
My computer is blocking me so I can't send this or the former message to the Group. Can you bounce it to them for me ?

Sir Gordon,Yes we do get increased line speed as a primary benefit from the haul. However, my observation is that the haul increases significant tip loading (bending) along with rod loading. My question is this: is the additional line speed from hauling a result of rod loading or more a product of leverage? Is it a combination of both loading and additional leverage? I cannot concieve in my mind how you get additional line speed without both factors coming into play and is it more leverage than loading? Thanks Jerry
