Walter & Group....
Jim's comments on the quiz answers followed by a new question from him which will require some thought.
As you try to come up with the answer, ask yourself what differences (variations) in your cast you will make as you go from casting with a stiff (fast) rod to the soft (slow) one.
You MCI candidates might come up with a long answer, first.....then work on it to pare it down to a very short one.Simbirski

Gordy,
Interpretation of the
question is fine.
In actuality both Mac
and Gary are correct.
Mac from the pure
stroke point of view and
The Point is that
something has to give. Rod load, stroke
length, rotation and all the other variables enter into the equation.
Thus our concentration
on the SLP of the rod tip and doing what is necessary to maintain it.
Now include arc and the
hand path may change in combination with the rotation (depending where
the rotation starts and ends). It may be possible to hold the rod bend (load)
far enough forward to maintain the SLP as the rod passes through RSP.(past
vertical and forward)
Anyone who doesn’t
understand any of this please ask, MCI candidates need to think through and
understand each minute segment of the cast in both directions. You will find
precise definitions are a must for this line of
questioning.
Now, (we have opened a
door)
What
are the implications of this discussion re stroke / arc for a student using a
“Soft Rod” ?
(Hint: First step:
Define a “Soft Rod” in a few words)
