    Good answers except for #2.  

    Most of us feel that for distance casting that the contribution of the haul of directly increasing line (loop) speed is more important than that of increasing rod load.

    One might argue the ans. to # 3.  My own feeling (and that of most of the others who answered the questions) is that the least important accomplishment of the haul for an efficient caster is the taking up of slack......for the simple reason that an expert caster rarely has any significant amout of slack as he/she makes the basic cast.  The inefficient intermediate caster often uses the haul to take up unwanted slack found in a less than perfect foundation cast.
