From Steve Smith:
Gordy I was thinking about this question on a roll cast and I question whether maybe 2 essentials can be omitted.1) I agree with the slack answer because it is a great technique to use a roll cast to get your line out when you do have a bunch on slack in the line. But when you are doing a dynamic roll cast(switch cast) you to not have to pause as well!!In fact I think Mel Krueger mentioned this in one of his video as you get better with your roll cast.

[GH] Steve,
Agree. I was thinking about this as we were discussing "static roll casts" and "dynamic roll casts" recently. My only surprise is that someone didn't come in with that earlier.

From David Lambert:
Gordy, one point about practice Lefty used to stress: stopping practice after you've made a few good, efficient casts.
"At the end of each practice session, stop when you’ve thrown a few good casts in a row; it’s always better to leave with the memory of good casts."

[GH] David,
I agree. Good idea to end each session on an UP !!

Gordy,
Going back to the practice thread.
Jim Chapralis made a booklet for Orvis. The information is extracted from his book. It wasn’t well publicized. I ran across this while organizing for a future workshop. The Orvis Rep told me it was ok to handout.
