    Gordy and Walter,
I have been archiving the study group discussions for the past few years.  Since we completed our exam review this past summer I’ve been focused on the casting and am behind on the archiving. Here is the “General Table of Contents” that evolved in that process.  I tried to keep the discussions roughly organized around the five topic areas for the exam and within those five areas I broke them into what I considered to be major sub topics; here is that list of sub topics:
    A.    Casting – Distance Issues
    B.    Casting - Non Distance Issues
    C.    Casting – Teaching
    D.    Casts – By Type or Caster
    E.    Casting – Toys & Bag of Tricks
    F.    Fly Line Issues
    G.    Leader Issues
    H.    Fly Issues
    I.      Rod Issues
    J.     Reel & Misc Equipment Issues
    K.    Fishing Issues
    L.     Casting Augmentations – Mends, Hauls, Shooting, Slides, etc.
    M.   Two Handed Issues
    N.    MCI Exam Clarification & Prep
    O.    Miscellaneous
    P.    Hyperlinked Articles and Sites

For each of these subtopics I created a Word Document which leads off with a table of contents based on the “discussion topic” that Gordy used  in his e-mails. See for example the Casting- Distance Issues table of contents below. The items in the table of contents are hyperlinks to the actual discussions which follow in the document. Some discussions relate to more than one sub topic but instead of duplicating the discussion I simply copied and pasted the hyperlinks in each of the sub topic documents where it was relevant (see for example items 5 through 13 from the Casting Augmentations document).
    Casting – Distance Issues (A)
    1.     Wrist Break in Hauling (A001)
    2.     High Haul (A002)
    4.     Acceleration (A004)
    5.     Rod Tip & Line Relationship (A005)
    6.     Distance Practice (A006)
    8.     Slide Loading (A008)
    9.     170degree cast (A009)
    11.  Climbing Loops Etc. (A011)
    12.  Shooting (A012)
    13.  Categorizing the Haul (A013)
    15.  Defining Slide (A015)

Casting Augmentations - Mends, Hauls, Shooting, Slides, etc.

    1. Practicing Aerial Mends Quiz #1 (L001)

    2.     Mends Quiz #2 (L002)

    3.     Effect of Haul Angle on the Cast (L003)

    1. Enhanced Hauls (L004)
    2. Slide Loading
    3. Shooting
    4. Categorizing the Haul
    5. Joan Wulff on Slide Loading
    6. Defining Slide
    7. Reach “Cast” vs. Reach Mend
    8. Teaching The Haul w Shooting Head
    9. High Haul

The Hyperlinked Articles and Sites(P) is a folder which contains all the illustrations, videos, and other non textual material that accompanies the discussions. Hyperlinks to these materials are included in the discussions.
Walter you mentioned keeping the discussions in their original form. That would certainly make the archiving task somewhat easier but I have found that some editing to eliminate nonessential information really does compact the materials to a much more manageable size when going back for research purposes. With respect to the quizzes for example, instead of including them all, I look for a representative sample which covers the major points and call it done.

Let me know if I can be of help.
    Mark
