An important announcement from Steve Hollensed:
Hi Gordy,
Would you mind to post a notice of the need for CI's at a youth casting event at the International Fly Fishing Fair coming up in July in Spokane. On Friday, July 13, from about 9:30 to noon, Don Simonson will be teaching a group of 50 youngsters basic fly casting. It goes without saying that Don could use a little help. And so if anyone would like to gain a little experience teaching kids, this is a great opportunity. And we could use a few other CI volunteers at other times as well. If anyone can help, just contact me at stevehollensed@xxxxxxxxxx.
And yes, it is on Friday the 13th.

Hi Gordy,
One of the ways that we might be able to encourage our certified instructors to work with young people is to give those that do spend a lot of time working with kids credit for it. With our masters program now it does not matter if you have fifty years of experience working with kids or not. A candidate that has no time with kids and has no intention to ever work with kids has the same chance of passing the masters. I know of several high level FFF instructors that have never in their life volunteered to help with teaching kids to fly fish. Unless this attitude changes I doubt if our organization will survive.

Workshops such as the one to be hosted by Don Simonson and announced by Steve Hollensed will help.
Your suggestion of adding questions or even a new topic on teaching youngsters on the future Masters exam is something I hadn't considered. Questions on the CCI exam would help give it a "jump start". I like that idea!
