    Walter & Group....

    [GH]  From Peter Morse :

    Gordy and group,

Because of my own casting style the PULD cast is not one I have used when teaching or even when fishing but I had a student here today and I did use it as an exercise in altering trajectory and timing as the line got longer. Very useful and I can understand why its inclusion is seen by some to be so important. Something to work on.

Like Paul I think the division of the MCI exam into the casting and oral component is not as practical or as effective as including the oral component during the casting component. What a great opportunity to talk about teaching and about rods and their parts and their actions, about leaders and fly lines and about all the various components of the stroke and faults and fixes - and fishing of course, because ultimately its about fishing. Do it while the casting exam is happening and every task has much more meaning than being just a cast.

With no member of the BOG in the Southern Hemisphere it makes sense that 3 MCI's should be able to test to MCI level. 3 MCI's can bring a wealth of diverse experience and skills to a test from saltwater through trouting, and even just pure casting.
