    Is this topic on still of interest?  I'll try to give my opinion if you'd still like to hear it... I disagree about "bounceback" being the cause, and I believe that I can conclusively prove it.

    I just came back to work, and have been reading the continuation of the Tailing Loops thread.  I am generally with Mac.  When most faults occur early in the stroke, the tail manifests itself early.  But I am still strongly of the opinion that the timing that the tail appears is dependent on the root flaw itself.  It's all about path vs. power issues, IMHO.

    Aitor didn't provide video showing an early flaw leading to a late tail, did he?

    [GH]  Troy -  I certainly am interested in your opinion.

     I'm still trying to learn more about "bounceback" (Kickback) so I have not formed an opinion on how much if at all it plays a role in the formation of tailing loops.

    [GH] To me the evidence of loop formation related to the timing of fault production is clear .... at least for this method of making the faulty application of power.

    "I disagree, if the tip path dips and rises in the very beginning of the stroke, the tail shows up at the end of the cast, just before final turnover, if I violently stop too soon and cause the tip path to dip and rise at the end of the stroke, the tail is right at me. Good example from Bruce Richards here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58DHNw5teeI  The dip and rise of the tip happens at the end of max rotation which would be the end of the stroke, and the tail happens above his head.

    Just as with the arial mends, if we make the move right at loop formation the mend travels all the way out, if we make the tail right at the beginning of the stroke, it has to travel all the way out before it can manifest itself truly."


    [GH]  It was Lasse's message which caused me to reverse my stance.  After reading it, I went out and made a concerted effort to make tails at different positions with power spike faults made early and late.

    Of course, I did this with only one method of providing the power application fault and approximately only one line length.
