    Walter & Group...

    From Gary Davison:

    Gordy,

Thanks for the quiz on the Spey Lines.  I really enjoyed answering the questions.   Thanks to Ally, Rick, Al and yourself.

Went to Mt. Home conclave and helped my brother Lee provide a workshop on Spey Casting with hands on instruction.  ..

Had a great time helping and watching my brother teach.  Lee had a Line Kit & Booklet that Al Buhr has devised for the specific purpose of bonding lines together.
This is done by splicing the line and heating it together to form a complete bond.  You can also make perfect Loop to Loop connections with this method.

Quite simple to do, even I could do it!  It looks like experimentation by any one of us is open if we choose that direction with this method of bonding lines.

I would use this mainly to make perfect good loop to loop connections on my lines, plus give me a chance to mend a line that may have been damaged.
In the past we would just discard the line, but with this method you can make it as good as new!

    All the best

Gary...     Al Buhr wrote a book on fly lines ..... HOW TO DESIGN FLY LINES  ( splicing, repair and design).  I'd give you the reference, but I am not near my library right now.  He published it ... I can't recall the year.

I, also, ran across a kit called, "Poppy's Line Splicing / Loop Making Kit".   Now there is a deluxe version.
