    Walter & Group...

    CONGRATULATIONS TO THOMAS BERGGREN ON PASSING HIS MCCI EXAM !!!

    His message:

    Hi Gordy,

    From the deepest of my heart!
    Thanks for running this study group….. All the best to you and of course every fantastic member for sharing their knowledge.

    I passed my MCI this weekend in Germany. I was well prepared, felt relaxed and had “the flow”….. In simple terms! I had a good day.

    But! As we all know “A day to learn and a lifetime to master” … I will keep on spending time in this group….

    Thanks//

    Thomas Berggren, Sweden

                                                                          Casting Lesson

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    From Lou Bruno:
    Hi Gordy,
    I just finished a casting lesson and decided to share a teaching method that I use. When I teach my students I emphasize the three S’s:
    Statue – how long to wait for the line to straighten on the back and forward cast.
    Speed – acceleration to the stop.
    Stroke – stroke length.
    The students leave the lesson knowing what they have to try to control when casting. The three S’s is short and easy for them to remember. It works for me.
    On my way to Florida for two weeks!
    Regards,
    Lou
    OK ! .....Meaningful as long as you relate these things..  Such as:
    1.) Statue ...The pause must be related to:
         a. The length of the cast and line carried. Direct relationship:  It should be long enough for the loop to almost unfurl.  Longer pause for longer casts when more line is carried.
         b. Speed of casting (cadence). Inverse relationship:   Shorter pause as the line speed increases. Longer pause as line speed and cadence decreases.
    (Interesting thought:  As you false cast, if you increase your speed as you increase the length of line carried out of the rod tip, the pause may well remain unchanged !)
    2.) Speed ...  Rod tip speed and loop speed must also be related to acceleration.  For efficient casts, one must have smooth, constant acceleration ending with the rapid negative acceleration which we call the stop.  Direct relationship:  Greater acceleration : greater line speed.
    3.) Stroke...  Stroke length should be related to the distance of the cast/amount of line carried. Direct relationship:  Short cast : short stroke.   Long cast : long stroke.
