Thank you for this latest interchange
forwarded, very helpful. Around 1990 both Jim Green and I build separately two
casting machines in a competitive spirit. Two different machines mechanically,
but each suffered from a rod vibration at the end of the rod
unload.

I thought of something to add to my question for all of the casting
guru's. The rod tip had to accelerate up to the point where the loop formation
overtakes it. I need some convincing that this point is actually right at RSP.
Looking forward to watching the 500fps video that Jason took here soon. Gordy,
we had a similar problem when trying to do this years ago at WCU in that the
cameras did not have high enough fps for live clarity capture.
Another thing that is hard to grasp is that at RSP- it keeps getting
referred to as 0 force acting upon the rod. That would be true if we sat the rod
in the corner it seems vertically leaning on the wall. When the casting stroke
takes place, it seems all kinds of forces such as compression,
rotational torque, tension, and others are acting in the fibers of the
stick-it is dynamic. It did not come to a rest in an instant it seems to me.
Oops! That leads us into another question. Maybe Walter, Server, Bruce, and the
group can get that one clearer for me. I must be missing something so
thanks in advance.

Mac .... Glad you brought that
up.
Since the rod only passes through RSP and
doesn't stop there even for an instant, I wondered whether we were dealing with
a force in one direction up to RSP and a second force directly following it
resulting in the rod bending in the opposite direction, ie. counterflex. I
join you in not being sure about that.
Let's see what our experts have to
say.
(Perhaps as we ask of our MCCI candidates, we
can get one SHORT ANSWER and an eplanatory longer one.)
