Walter & Group...

Gordy:
When I spent time with you and Tom White in your course in Marathon
you made a statement I took to heart--do not rush the process for Masters
Certification. Tom also mentioned I should get in touch with you to
join your e-mail group. Thank God for Tom!
I marvel at the teacher minds and experience in this world wide
group and measure myself against the input. I read every
e-mail with eagerness and delight. I am growing and getting closer
to my standard for readiness for the Masters Exam.
I do not know of any other source of information that comes
close to the growing edge and vast pool of casting and fishing experience
as the gentlemen in this group. This series on the Salt Water Cast
is a perfect example.
So my thanks again to you Sir Gordon and to all who
participate and share so freely! I am getting
stronger. Happy holidays to all!
With much appreciation,
Jerry Puckett

Jerry ... Let's reserve the
greatest thanks to our members who are so great at participating and
teaching at every opportunity. They jump right in and do the bulk of
our teaching giving freely their expert
advice.
I also will never forget the
mountains of learning I (and you) gained from Tom. He is someone
none of us will ever forget.
Flycasting and the teaching of it
was Tom's whole life and he gave parts of it to each of
us.

From Al
Crise:-
Gordy post this if you would to the group.
Howdy Gordy and Group.
Speaking of different casts on the test. I feel that those of
you on the Masters journey are trying hard to play catch up. I would guess
you are wondering just what you are doing and Why?
When you call yourself a 'Master' you are setting yourself up to be
questioned, teased, tested, and in general many students will be looking
for the ONE thing that will make them a great fly fisherperson. To this
end the FFF Board has given the CBOG and Master the responsibility of
making a decision as to weather the Candidate can hold up to this and keep
the FFF goals as they were set.
On the Masters test they have given an oral test to let the candidate
explain just what they know of teaching fly casting. That
is meat of the test. The other part is to find out if they
can help a student that has been to places, you might only have heard
of, Read about or saw on TV. Yet the MASTER should be able to give
enough to make the trip the student is heading for with good casting
basics and 'Tips' for that area.
The Master is also the one charged with testing the CCI
candidates and the Master Candidates. As a Master you will have to be
ready to ask and demo almost anything about casting along with
the standardized test. This is the reason for some of the casting
demos, explains, that are on the Tests. Fly Fishing the FFF way
is "All Fish All Waters". Todays FFF Masters are going to be at a level
that can hold the respect anywhere.
I n 2003 I was testing for my Masters at Gulf Shores AL at the
Southeaster Conclave. After my first try I met Gordy Hill. I found out
what the Masters Level was all about. Here was man that was taking the
Masters test. What he spilled in knowledge of casting was more that I had
read in 40 years in the sport. I knew that I had a long ways to go. I was
behind Gordy with my wiskbroom just sweeping up what he was leaving...
Well that led to a friendship that has built and become a common bond. The
love of Teaching Fly Casting. I look back at what this friendship as
become not to just me, but to so many of you that have learned
to pick up the gems that Gordy drops so freely.
Enjoy the Journey !
Merry Christmas

have learned from our members cannot be overestimated
