From Jim Valle:-
Gordy and Group :
Things to remember!
1.
Be careful what you wish (ask) for!!!
a.
Gordy told me the questionairre response was an
avalanche, it WAS!
b.
However some tremendous insights and ideas are emerging.
I will try to put them together and post the results. Shows how much we
care about this stuff!! Bruce Richards once told me Casting Instructors are
the greatest group of people in the world, and we are!
2.
Clarify a couple things;
a.
The Loop is available to anyone and this alone
makes the whole point, go to the FFF website click on “Casting
Certification” and then the “LOOP”, there they are! Of Course we might as
well have called it “The Goose” as far as a CI candidate is concerned for
nowhere is its importance and value adequately explained. So it’s now available
to anyone but we just keep it to ourselves.
b. An FFF Lesson, Gordy’s definition of a FFF sanctioned event lesson is certainly correct. I would add the concept of any lesson by any certified instructor that applies the same fundamental terminology and casting principles, has a lesson plan, is conducted professionally and is transferable throughout the world. (In my opinion a student should be able to go from any FFF lesson and continue with another FFF instructor here in the US or abroad, I have seen this happen and it is impressive)
I
think teaching is a creative art and thus needs to be left to the
individual instructor, I am also of the opinion that we as professionals should
be conversant and able to teach all the major casting theories or
approaches even if they don’t necessarily agree in every detail, but it is our
job to know them… because our students may. Again my “Understanding” and
“Know the differences, Look for the similarities, the Truth is in the
Similarities”
Overall, some great stuff and I am sure in the next few days
we will have more.
Don’t want to belabor this issue or distract from your
“Masters Path” however once you get to the Masters you will be examining and
that responsibility will bring you here.
Thanks for your responses, More to follow.
Great Casting

COMMENTS: As Masters, you will be dealing with CCI's and CCI candidates in many different ways. You will even be in the MCCI testing process, once qualified. You will often be the person to whom they turn for advice as they embark upon a path you have already long ago begun.
On Jim's, "knowing the differences and similarities" : Years ago when studying for the MCCI exam, Floyd Franke gave me many, "assigments" to complete. One of them was to study and then tabulate the differences and similarities between notable casting educators including Lefty Kreh and Joan Wulff.
Years later, I became much more knowledgable as I discussed casting and teaching with each of them , fished with them and gave it many hours of thought. Each used different words in teaching. They used many different techniques for casting.
In the end, however, I was most impressed by their SIMILARITIES.
