Let's have as our next task, the correction of the inefficient wide loop by a new caster who hasn't got the faintest idea of how to make a tight loop. You have explained loops to him and in doing so, have demonstrated what you mean by different size loops both on the grass and in the air. He simply can't do it.
(Granted that the use of a wide loop is NOT a fault when used for the proper indications and that it is often the preferred loop for many fishing applications.)
You have told him that he needs a straight line path of the rod tip to do this, but he just doesn't know how to do that.
