    From Michael Gallert:-

    Gordie,

In regards to Short rods ;Brandt Ozwald states in a Magazine article:

The advantages of short rods repeated in dozens of angling texts — more portability when hiking through brush and easier false casting under overhanging branches—are valid, but they are not nearly as important as the accuracy afforded by moving the path of the rod tip closer to the caster's line of sight.

It is the first time I have read this advantage of a Short rod.

    Michael...

A while back, we went through the various advantages and disadvantages of short rods.  As I recall, we did not cover this advantage.

Most casters find tracking (SLP of the rod tip with respect to right and left deviations) a little easier when casting with a short rod.  This may be another reason for this increase in accuracy for short distances.

I'll have to play with distance targets using long and short rods before I'm convinced that the short rod has this advantage with longer range accuracy.  At the moment, I just don't know.
