Yesterday, I had Steve Rajeff as my angler.
A large tarpon suddenly appeared in low light conditions only 4 feet from the skiff. Steve made an incredible, deadly accurate cast. He hooked and landed the fish on a 7 wt. outfit. An acrobatic fish which almost threatened to spool him on the first run.
From my position on the poling platform, it looked as though he was casting to his own left foot. His lightning fast control of trajectory, rod load, close accuracy tracking and his reaction time were nothing short of phenomenal !
If you think this is easy, place a target 4' in front of you and see if you can hit it while casting with a 9' rod.
Now do it in less than 2 seconds.
