My brief comments in your text in CAPS..... Gordy
Gordy:
The rod tip follows a nearly straight line path of the rod tip during the
cast. To achieve this both a linear movement and a rotational casting
arc result in a casting stroke with less work as opposed to a
simple linear cast or a rotational cast as Tom White illustrated.
YES. LESS WORK FOR THE SAME DISTANCE, OR THE SAME AMOUNT OF WORK
YIELDING GREATER DISTANCE WHEN MORE LINE IS CARRIED.
Using both linear and rotational movements during the
cast, does the casting arc increase with the length of the line,
short cast smaller casting arc, longer cast increasingly greater casting
arc? Is this what achieves the SLP of the rod tip? In other
words, a longer length of line to be cast would require a longer
linear movement for a deeper bend in the rod thus requiring a greater casting
arc to maintain a SLP of the rod tip.
YES. LONGER LINE CARRIED, THE LONGER THE STROKE. LONGER
LINE CARRIED, THE GREATER THE CASTING ARC. PUTTING IT TOGETHER,
THE MORE LINE CARRIED (GREATER DISTANCE FOR THE
CAST) THE LONGER THE TIP TRAVEL.
This would be based on a smooth accelerated acceleration of both
the linear and rotational movement. The more I think about the smooth
accelerated acceleration this movement varies with the length of the casting
stroke and arc-- Mostly arm in a short cast and in a long cast smooth
accelerated acceleration can start at the feet, flow through the body and arm
for maximum effectiveness, seamless smoothness so to speak.
YES. THE COMBINITION OF: 1. CASTING STROKE (LINEAR HAND
MOTION), 2. CASTING ARC (ANGULAR MOTION OF THE BUTT SECTION OF THE ROD),
3. BODY MOTION, AND (SOMETIMES) 4. A STEP IN THE DIRECTION OF THE CAST WHEN DONE
SMOOTHLY IN CONCERT CAN RESULT IN A NICE LONG CAST. ALL THESE THINGS GO TO INCREASE TIP TRAVEL.
Hope this stream of thought is not to confusing. Just
trying to understand. Thanks Jerry
