Walter & Group.....
From Jerry Puckett:-
Gordy, if we had a failure rate of 40% in aviation on check rides the FAA
would shut us down and re-examine out training program!
So my question is this, is the burden on the person taking the test to
scramble and try to find help or have we grown to the point where it is time to
provide courses like yours, Tom's and Al's nationwide to meet the growing
need for help in Certification?
I applaud the excellent work of the Board of Governors in providing an
excellent program and for holding standards high.
I understand that Dusty did some work on such a program. It may be
time to resurrect this idea and train CCI's and Masters in providing training
for certification. Al Crise provides some quality training with some
Masters level CCI's. I think every thing is in place and it may be time to
run toward the future. We just need to look at the success rate
of groups such as yours and Als along with the e-mails.
Could you pass my concerns to the B.O.G until I can come up with a
group list. Don't worry I will be most hidden and not overload an already
hard working and dedicated group. Thanks, Jerry

Jerry...
Our FFF including the CBOG does not actually have any, "training program"
at all.
As you know, some of us including Tom, Dusty,Tony Vitalle and Marilyn
Vitalle have had courses/programs, etc. and many of us have done individual
coaching and pre-testing of candidates.
The problem with the dismal flunk rate of recent years seems to lie in
candidates not realizing the scope and breadth of the exam and not taking the
years of study and preparation needed. This combined with the fact that
many of our recent candidates really have not had the extensive hands-on
experience of actual teaching of fly casting on a regular basis. Our exams
have not changed....but the candidates have. As you know, we've had a very
good track record of folks on our Study Group passing. Most of the
ones who have not, have known that they elected to take the test
prematurely.
