Walter & Group.......
From Walter Simberski......example of long answer
vs. short answer:
Given two rods of the same weight rating the slower
rod will bend more under the same load and will take longer to return to rsp
when the load is removed than the faster rod.
Long answer:
All other things being equal (line, loop size,
launch angle, wind, etc.) in order to match the distance cast by a fast rod with
a slow rod the caster will need to
apply power over a greater distance in order to
reach the same line speed at rsp, i.e. a longer stroke is required. The
slower rod will also deviate more from a
slp if the path of the rod hand is
maintained which means that the casting arc must also be increased.
Short answer:
In order to cast the same distance with a slow rod
as with a fast rod the caster must increase both the arc and stroke length of
their cast.

Walter...
Or: Slow rod/increase stroke length & rod arc. Decrease
speed
Fast rod/decrease stroke length
& rod arc. Increase speed.
(Includes the fact that one must decrease cadence speed when casting the same
distance with a softer rod.
