From Walter Simberski :
Gordy - forgot one point I was going to make about
the timing of the shoot:
Rajeff uses overhang to control the point at which
his line will fully straighten relative to the distance of the cast and he
releases the line for the shoot as close
to the RSP as possible or very very slightly after.
In terms of distance cast vs power caster puts in to the cast this should be the
most efficient. If he wanted to change
his presentation he could change the overhang and still release the line at RSP. Another
caster could consistently use the same amount of overhang but use
the timing of line release to change the
presentation. This will result in less distance vs power caster puts in to the
cast than Rajeff's method. As an example, releasing
the line too soon can totally destroy the cast but
releasing line just before RSP can enhance an underpowered curve
cast.
Both of these methods require a very good sense of
timing to control. Most casters will stick to releasing the line at RSP, or
very, very shortly thereafter, but vary the
amount of power they put into the cast, along with
launch angle and ita mends, to modify their presentation.
