    Hi Gordy
Chris Seipio once told me that he had a bungee cord hooked up in such a way, so he could practise hauling indoors. The idea was to get smoother at accelerating, straight line pull, controlling slack, and speed. You have see the results, he's one of the best on the planet.
I sent you an e-mail last night after a long day on the water, one of the things I found interesting yesterday was when Vince told me to use two hands to cast the spinning rods. I had been casting with my right hand only, it's amazing the amount of power you can generate with the lower hand. Spey casting, hauling, and even using a bait caster or spinning rod, the lower hand plays such an important part.

    Rick.....

I HAVE seen the results when you and Chris came down to tarpon fish.

Yes, indeed.  Some have likened the effect of the lower hand on the two handed Spey rod akin to that of the line hand haul when casting with a single handed fly rod.

Of course, ocean surf casters using heavy spinning rods use both hands and make tremendous distances casting lures over the breakers.

Some ocean surf fly fishermen use long two handed rods for 2 handed casting out over the suds....not Spey technique at all; rather two handed straight line overhead casting.

Nick Curcione is well known for using that technique.
