    Peter....

Ahhhhh yes.  I do remember that.  Would have been a shame to lose the fly line, too !

Yes....I have tried the 6wt. 5 wt. and 6 wt. GLX's.  They are as you say.

For delicate presentations, we have preached for years that the long gentle forward taper lines work best.  Triangle tapers can't be "beat" for this.  Longer leaders also help, along with lighter tippets.

Remember, however, what Lefty teaches about gaining really delicate presentations:  A good way to do this is to go down 2 or 3 tackle designations........rod and all.  He's right......until you also have a nasty wind with which to contend....and/or a large fierce quarry to land.                                                                     Gordy

Gordy...Great stuff. I'm sending alot of it to my students as they are now into Bruce's book along with the SA catalogue. I love his response . I've always told my students that the manufactorers design their products with the "average customer" in mind and it's fun to experiment with different line wts.and configurations..Every time Dusty buys a new rod he probably experiments with 6 different lines. Have you tried the GLX with the 6&5 wt?  Awesome for spooky fish. I'm looking for another 4 pc. GLX 7wt.... just can't be beat and I don't want to be caught without one should mine break...On the Montauk story you forgot to add that that charming surfcaster then put your line over his shoulder and was gonna spool your reel until calmer heads prevailed!!! What a day!.......Peter

Gordy... Rod is going  to be fishing with me the 15 & 16th. I suggest you and Dave join us for dinner the 16th and we can fish the 17th and possibly the 18th. I'm going upstate NY on the 20th so will have to see how my schedule is for  that week. I would like to schedule at least 2 days the previous week.We have Mon. and Thurs off cuz of the holidays so we could work around that according to the weather, your plans, etc etc. So we'll have 2/3 days the week of the 10th and hopefully 2 days the week of the 17th. I really hope you'll come over the 16th as we can get a good group together for dinner. How does that sound?   Peter
