Tom....
Thanks. I'm pleased to pass this on to the Group.
Also.....I just wrote to Steve Rajeff for his description of just how he makes those incredible needle sharp loops.

Gordie;
Great string going.
Mel Krieger taught me the Pulling, not pushing the cast several years ago.
He states ? don?t quote me ? ?that you pull on the line during the cast, and when you get to the Speed up and stop, you DON?T PUSH through, you simply just QUIT! This allows the rod to unload.
However when you think about this cast ? and it isn?t incorrect ? it is designed for short to medium length casts. ( I would estimate up to 60-70?).
I use this method for accuracy casting; just loading the tip section of the rod, very little wrist.
I have noticed that to attain distances beyond the 70?, I have to PUSH the rod at the Speed up and Stop. Your description of the ?Out and Up, or the Out and Forward? is a good description.

Subject: needle sharp loops
Hi, Jim.....
Upon re reviewing you question of several days ago on "pushing" and "pulling"......I do have a couple of completions to my answer.
1.) Yes.....the techniques of "pushing" and, "pulling" are NOT written in stone and not essentials. They are manifestations of STYLE.
2.) You asked if there are other ways of making a needle sharp loop. The answer is, YES.
Steve Rajeff once taught me one way to do it, by making a split second perfectly timed upward/outward thrust at the STOP. You get one shape if you make it more "up" than "out" and another if you make it more "out" than "up".
Time lapse framed video can probably prove the point, but I think that while this is done so fast that the observer cannot tell, that what he really does is accomplish that tiny thrust during counterflex, directly after the RSP when the loop begins to form.
