    Walter & Group...

[GH] Hope all of you had great and enjoyable holidays!

Ted Warren sends us a video of THE ULTIMATE FLY FISHER with emphasis on FLY !

As this fisher learned to do this, I think he's used every one of his senses. While likely having been taught by his parents, I suspect "instinct" has played a biological role.

He also, has probably used a method which relates to the answer in my question posed, below.

[GH] Let's expand our topic on THE WAYS WE LEARN FLY CASTING with a little brain teaser which I might ask when giving an MCI oral exam. The answer is straight forward ... nothing tricky:

We have listed many ways in which we and our students learn and improve our fly casting. Included were -

    1. Learning by SEEING.

    2. Learning by HEARING.

    3. Learning by FEEL.

    4. Learning by COGNITION (Study and understanding.)

    5. Learning by TRIAL AND ERROR.

    6. Learning by SERENDIPITY.  (We do something while casting which was unintended, but which works.)

    7. Learning by "NIGHT LEARNING". (A new casting maneuver comes in a dream or night reverie.)

All this leads to this question:-

Question Can you tell us one additional important method of learning which embraces several of those listed above?

Hint:  No student can really learn fly casting without this one.

Take your time to think about this one and then see if you can come up with an answer.
