[GH] From Tim Lawson :
Hi Gordy,
I didn't know several of yours either, but now they've been added to my list.
"You will not be lucky" was a slide in a CI prep PowerPoint ( I think it's still on the FFF website) attributed to David Diaz. I thought the quote was a great inspiration to prepare until you KNOW you're ready. Bob Middo has one with a similar theme: "First time; every time".
"It's only flycasting" I heard first from Dennis Grant. It always brings me down to earth when I start taking myself too seriously as an instructor.
"Life's too short" I think I saw first on Sexyloops. It was stated as a practical reason for selecting a change-of-direction cast other than false casting.
I don't know the origin of these two, but I enjoy them:
"If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there would be a shortage of fishing poles"
"Fly fishing is not a matter of life and death, it's much more important than that."
Thanks for playing along, Gordy.
Tim

[GH] Tim,
Many thanks for your answers.
I like David Diaz's "You will not be lucky". Those who feel that luck will serve them well during a Masters exam will be sorely disappointed !
Then there is another sage comment quoted from Ken Cole of our Group : -
"Do not take your Master exam when you think you are ready; take it when you KNOW You're ready!"
One which we've quoted many times in the recent past, from Dennis Grant: "It depends." To me, that covers the variables and the interdependence of so many other things in flycasting.
