[GH]  Let's have some replies from you Masters to Tony Loader's question.  It will help him with the class he and Brian Henderson are giving for prospective MCI candidates :

    Hi Gordy,

Interesting stuff on definitions. I suspect they'll be a "work in progress" for a long time...

Brian Henderson and I are preparing to present a class to some prospective MCI candidates.

So that we might use such information for their enlightenment, would you be so kind as to tell us:
    1. What was the single most important thing that you did that was most helpful in preparing for the MCI test?
    2. What was the one thing that you spent time doing that was not very helpful in preparing for the MCI test?
    3. If you had to pick the one thing that gave you the most trouble on the test what would it be?
    Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Tony

    [GH]  My  answer :

    Tony,

I've presented this to the Group.

    My personal answers :

    1. Arranging and carrying out a pre-test with a BOG.

    2. Actual fly fishing.

    3. Trying to maintain really good tracking on the distance task.

I made the distance and had tight loops, but the tracking control was not perfect partly due to the change in casting planes (rod planes) between the forward and back casts. That resulted in loop legs which appeared to be almost parallel from the side, but not when viewed from behind when false casting.

I got the clue as to why the examiners wanted me to repeat the task when the examiner behind me asked the other examiner to watch my loops from in front.  I realized what I had done, and (fortunately) corrected it for the second attempt.
