    Walter & Group...

[GH]  From Dusty Sprague on hauling with the non-dominant hand for the MCI test :

Good point about hauling with the non-dominant hand.....I can see that coming in the future.

Our masters test committee has been very reluctant to add new requirements to the test.  Most of us on the committee have looked at the test as being well designed by our predecessors.....the test tasks test the skills we would expect of a master instructor....  and our committee's job is focused primarily on interpreting and clarifying those well-thought-through requirements.  We are sensitive to 'requirements creep'.  Only recently have we added the new requirement to demonstrate basic proficiency with the non-dominant hand; this being suggested by our esteemed governor emeritus Al Kyte for over two years before our committee was convinced to add this 'new' requirement.  All this to say simply that change to this test can be slow to come.

    [GH]  Dusty,

Changes resulting in increased requirements should be hard earned and slow to come.

Those changes specific to clarify understanding of the tasks, the expectations and reasons for failure are fundamental, however, to the goals for the MCI testing committee, as I see it.

[GH] Question from Ckling Ling :

    Hi Gordy,
Just wondering what is the current thinking on optimal line hauling. Is the haul up to RSP1 or MCF?
What is the max haul speed and max rod tip speed on a distance cast?
Since max haul length is only approximately 5ft in length, could we say that optimal haul occurs during the unloading phase?

    Thanks
    Ling

    [GH]  Ling,

Let's see if the answers to the questions I've already posed in our prior message will help answer your questions as well.  Lots of them for tomorrow.
